Chief Justice takes Suo Moto Notice of Exorbitant Fees Charges by Private Medical Colleges

ISLAMABAD - The Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken Suo Moto Notice on a news item containing the details that there is no uniform admission policy criterion for admission in private medical colleges. It was further alleged that exorbitant fee is being charged by private medical colleges. Students who could not get admission in Government medical Colleges, therefore, were being rushed by their parents towards private medical colleges for admission of their children and resultantly Medical Colleges charge exorbitant fee.


Taking notice of the issue, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan has called for a detailed report from Registrar, Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad, within one week so as to apprise:-



(i) The Admission merit criterion of Private Medical Colleges,


(ii) The structure of fee schedule and maximum limit of fee that Private Medical Colleges can charge


(iii) The role of PM&DC in regulating the admissions and fee charges of Private Medical Colleges, and


(iv) Any action in this regard, so far taken by PM&DC, if any.
