KARACHI- Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) management has decided to acquire the most advanced MRI and CT scan machines to provide better diagnostic facilities for both visiting and admitted patients, free of cost.

Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr Sabir Memon said that due to the increasing number of patients requiring MRI and CT scan facilities during emergencies or routine follow-ups, the administration had decided to set up the latest MRI and CT scan machines at Sindh’s largest tertiary care health facility.

He also informed that SNE had been forwarded to the concerned authorities of Sindh Health Department for approval, hoping to acquire new MRI and CT scan machineries during the current fiscal year.

It was revealed that private hospitals of Karachi city charge around Rs5,000 to Rs20,000 for MRI tests, while CT scans cost Rs5,000 to Rs15,000, making it difficult for the needy patients to benefit from these diagnostic facilities.

With the inclusion of new diagnostic equipment in CHK, scores of patients would be able to avail these services, free of cost.
