KARACHI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) has become functional after remaining out of order for about two months.

An official the CHK’s Radiology department said that the MRI machine’s fault has been rectified and it was now working properly. “Between 10 and 12 tests are being conducted daily free of cost since March 23,” he added.
He gave the credit of making the MRI machine operational to the CHK’s Medical Superintendent, Dr Jameel Ahmed Siddiqui, saying he (MS) had given a specific deadline for rectifying the machine’s fault to the officials concerned.

It may be pointed out that as long as the MRI machine remained out of order, CHK patients requiring MRI test had no choice but to go to some private laboratory for the test where they used to be charged between Rs10,000 and Rs15,000 for a single MRI test.
