Coronavirus case toll rises to 709 in Sindh with 33 new cases

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department confirmed 33 new coronavirus cases in the Sindh province in the last 24 hours, taking the reported case toll to 709 in the province.

Media Coordinator to the Health Minister, Meeran Yousuf, that a total of 709 coronavirus patients have been detected across the Sindh province so far out of which 307 are in Karachi, 265 are in Sukkur, 128 are in Hyderabad, seven are in Larkana, and one each in Dadu and Jacobabad.

She further noted that 646 patients are still under treatment in Sindh while 55 have recovered from the disease. She further informed that 376 were locally transmitted cases in Sindh. Approximately 6948 tests have been performed in Sindh so far, out of which 706 tested positive. Eight have succumbed to the ailment.

A total of 2112 coronavirus cases have been detected across the country to date out of which 748 are in Punjab, 709 are in Sindh, 253 are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 158 are in Baluchistan, 184 are in Gilgit- Baltistan, 54 are in Islamabad, and six are in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

A total of 27 deaths have also been recorded in the country due to the virus, out of which ten were reported from Punjab, eight from Sindh, six from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, two from Gilgit-Baltistan, and one from Baluchistan, according to government data.

Globally, around 885,622 have been infected by the coronavirus, out of which 43,959 have died so far. Approximately 184,965 have recovered from the disease while 29,371 are in critical condition.
