Coronavirus cases rise to 1102 in Pakistan

KARACHI: At least 13 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the Sindh province in the last 24 hours, taking the reported case toll to 407 in the province.

Media Coordinator to the Health Minister, Meeran Yousuf, informed that a total of 407 coronavirus patients had been reported across the Sindh province to date, out of which 265 are from Taftan, 142 are from Karachi, and one is from Hyderabad.

She further informed that four people had recovered from this viral disease while 402 are still under treatment in Karachi and Sukkur. She further informed out of 141 cases, 90 were locally transmitted cases in the city.

A total of 1102 coronavirus cases have been detected in Pakistan so far, out of which there are 417 cases in Sindh, 323 in Punjab, 121 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 131 in Baluchistan, 25 in Islamabad, 85 in Gilgit- Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Eight deaths had been registered in the country due to the coronavirus, out of which three were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab, Baluchistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, according to government data.

One hundred ninety-five countries have been affected by the pandemic so far. More than 16,000 people have succumbed to the ailment, and more than 386,000 have been infected by the disease. The coronavirus continues to spread rapidly to new territories.

The outbreak has now shifted to Europe, especially Italy, where it is recording a rapid rise in new cases and deaths every day.
