Coronavirus claims 180 lives in Sindh

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has registered four more deaths in the Sindh province, out of which three were reported in Karachi and one in Hyderabad.

Media Coordinator to the Health Minister, Meeran Yousuf, informed that a total of 180 deaths had been registered across the province out of which 157  deaths were recorded in Karachi, seven in Hyderabad, six in Sukkur, two each in Sanghar and Larkana, and one each in Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Shikarpur, and Ghotki.

She informed that 1,080 more coronavirus cases emerged across the province in the past 24 hours. A total of 10,771 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Sindh since 26 February 2020 to date.

She informed that 8,571 patients are still under treatment in Sindh while 2,020 had recovered from the disease. She further informed that 9,879 out of 10,771 are locally transmitted cases in Sindh.

She said about 87,108 tests had been performed in Sindh so far, out of which 10,771 tested positive.

A total of 28,551 coronavirus cases have been reported in Pakistan, out of which 10,471 were reported in Punjab, 10,771 in Sindh, 4,327 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,873 in Baluchistan, 421 in Gilgit- Baltistan, 609 in Islamabad, and 79 in Azad Jammu Kashmir. A total of 7,756 have recovered from disease in the country.

A total of 623 deaths have also been registered due to the coronavirus in Pakistan, out of which 180 were reported in Sindh, 220 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 192 in Punjab, 24 in Baluchistan, four in Islamabad, and three in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The number of confirmed fatalities from the novel coronavirus worldwide has risen to 276,945. More than 4,041,789 cases have been registered across the world. Of these cases, at least 1,403,912 are considered recovered.
