Coronavirus in Pakistan: Minister urged citizens to act 'responsibly’

Karachi: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr Zafar Mirza recently confirmed the first two cases of Corona virus in Pakistan. He informed the presence in series of tweets on microblogging website, Twitter .

Dr Zafar urged to not panic about Coronavirus as “97% cases of Coronavirus fully recover.” In a public service message he wrote, “Be careful and act responsibly!”

Dr Zafar Mirza said that “If we continue to apply our SOPs & guidelines & if we all act responsibly we would be able to avoid wide-spread of disease in Pakistan.”

He also wrote, “If you or somebody you know have recently returned from China, Iran or a country where #COVIDー19 is prevalent and if there are symptoms like fever, cough, difficulty in breathing - please report by calling at 1166.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan has been the last country to report cases of Coronavirus. Dr Zafar claimed that this was due to “testimony to our strategy.”

Earlier, in a Press Conference held with with Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan in Quetta, Dr Zafar assured that the contagious disease will not take a form of outbreak in Pakistan. He added, “There is no need to create panic. We need to take precautions and fulfill our responsibilities to stop the spread of novel virus.”

Zafar announced that Pakistan is now capable of diagnosing the novel coronavirus, which has killed 304 people in China and infected more than 14,000.
