KARACHI-Two coronavirus cases have recently surfaced in country- one in Karachi and other in Islamabad, top health officials confirmed.
A young man, who recently arrived in Karachi from Iran becomes the first confirmed coronavirs case, a Sindh health department official told.
Coordinator to the Sindh Health Minister, Meeran Yousuf told that a 22-year-old youth, Yaha Jaffari, has been history of travel to Iran where he was hit by the virus. He travelled from Iran to Karachi by plane.
Yaha and his family have been placed in quarantine at Aga Khan Hospital and Sindh health department is in the process of examining all the passengers who travelled with them.
Earlier, Advisor to Prime Minister, Zaffar Mirza, also confirmed two coronavirs cases in Pakistan out of which one was in Karachi and other in PIMS Islamabad.
Zafar informed that both cases were being taken care of according to clinical standard, protocols. “Both patients are in stable condition, the PM advisor further said. There is no need of indulging in panic as things are under control,” he said.
Globally, 81,291 people have been diagnosed witth the coronavirus disease out of which 2,770 have died while 30,359 were recovered from the disease. The sign and symptoms of coronavirus are fever, cough, sore throat, pain in body, nausea, pneumonia and infection in lungs. No any sign appears in infected patient in the first five days.
Experts have advised citizens to practice the best hygiene, and wash their hands frequently and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
The citizens need to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and then throw the tissue in the trash.
Infected patients need to avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands and sick people are required to stay home.
The first coronavirus case was detected on 1st December 2019 in Wuhan city of China.
