Dr Asim removed from Nursing Council Presidency, responsible for fake medical colleges, bogus degrees: Saira Afzal Tarar

ISLAMABAD – The State Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar alleged that Dr Asim Hussain, chairman, Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC), was supporting fake medical colleges and providing bogus degrees. She said this while she was talking to the media in a press conference in Islamabad.

She extended her full cooperation with law enforcers for alleged fraud committed by Dr Asim.

She further informed that Dr Asim has also been removed from presidency of Nursing Council.

She said that cases are being forwarded to National Accountability Bureau regarding alleged embezzlement in Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s (PMDC) management. She also termed Dr Shaista’s working as registrar illegal registrar and said that Dr Nadeem Akbar is the legal registrar.

Talking to the press she said that PMDC members’ number would be cut to 35 from 81. The total of 35 members would have at least 20 elected while 15 honorary representatives. She further said that all provinces would be given representation in PMDC on equality basis.

It is a mere coincidence that the Ordinance came to light when Dr Asim was arrested, she added and confirmed that elections of PMDC will be held within 120 days.
