Drive against food hazardous to health

KARACHI- Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has launched a crackdown against those selling food hazardous to health in the metropolis.

According to KMC’s food and quality control department’s deputy director Dr Muhammad Irfan, the drive against those playing havoc with the health of citizens has been launched on the directives of Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui. 

He said food inspectors and other officials of the department, who are taking part in the campaign, will visit different markets of the city to ensure that no unscrupulous elements indulge in selling inferior quality and unhygienic food items, cold drinks and fruits at the cost of citizens.

Moreover, stern action would also be taken against all those who will be found guilty of selling adulterated food items, he added.
