Drive launched against dengue virus source

KARACHI- A campaign aimed at eliminating dengue eggs from drains and ponds has been launched in the city by Dengue Prevention and Control Programme of Sindh health department.

Special Secretary Health, Sindh, Dr Khalid Hussain Sheikh, inaugurated the drive  at Sindh Secretariat.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sheikh said that all the 212 dengue cases reported in Sindh since April 23, this year, were detected from Karachi. He said all dengue fever patients have been recovered from the disease after receiving treatment. 

He said that meetings being held with the administration of private hospitals are aimed at collecting authentic data of all dengue patients. 

He said that anti-dengue fumigation campaign will soon be launched in the high-risk areas of the city, while awareness sessions were also being organized in different schools of the metropolis.
