Drug Inspector Accused Of Taking Bribe

KARACHI- A medical store owner launched a written complaint, addressed to the Director Health Services, Karachi against Deputy Director Health and Drug Inspector, for allegedly persuading him into bribery. However, Director Health Dr. Tahir Aziz Sheikh said that, strict action would be taken against the official if someone found the involved person guilty of the accusation.


Owner of Khawaja Medical & Super Store situated at Berar Society Dhoraji Karachi, launched this complaint against Deputy Director Health  posted at Health Services Department Karachi for allegedly taking bribe of worth Rs 70,000 from him during a raid; and also threatened to seal the  medical store. He also mentioned that the officer took away various medicine samples from the store for lab testing.


The complainant requested the Director Health Service, Karachi to recover the amount of money taken, along with the medicines.


Director Health Services, Karachi,   Dr. Tahir Aziz Sheikh, exclaimed that, strict action would be taken against such illegal acts, and that, an inquiry committee would be constituted to probe the complaint.


The crackdown against illegal medical stores, quacks, maternity homes, and other health facilities are underway, all over Karachi, on the directives of Health Department Sindh, in order to control the menace of quackery within the city. Several complaints have been received against officials for seeking bribe from illegal health facilities owners.
