KARACHI: The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has suspended three employees until further notice, including the girls’ hostel’s chief warden.
Spokesperson, DUHS, said, on the recommendations of the inquiry committee formed by the Vice-Chancellor, DUHS, Prof Muhammad Saeed Quraishy, to probe the girls’ hostel incident, three employees of the university have been suspended including warden girls’ hostel Miss Saima Fawad, and Lady Security Guards, Razia Bibi, and Kainat Bibi.
Separate notifications issued by the Dow University Registrar, Dr Ashar Afaq, said that the Associate Professor of Pathology had been relieved from the additional responsibilities as the chief warden of the girls’ hostel at the Ojha Campus, DUHS.
Vice-Chancellor, DUHS, had constituted a committee headed by Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kartar Dawani, to inquire into the Ojha Campus girls’ hostel incident. He submitted the inquiry committee’s report to the Vice-Chancellor within 24 hours, after which action was taken against those responsible for the incident.
It is also worth mentioning that Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, took notice of the incident and directed Assistant Commissioner, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Muhammad Ali Gopang, to investigate the issue.
Assistant Commissioner, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, also visited the Ojha Campus and met parties representing both sides. He also went to the hostel to get the details of the incident from the concerned students.
Later, he also discussed all the aspects of the incident with Prof Kartar, the head of the inquiry committee.
The report has been submitted to the Chief Minister of Sindh.
