Ebola alert: Doctors to undergo disease management training

AMRITSAR: With Ebola cases being reported from different countries across the globe, four Punjab doctors have been advised to undergo training for 5 days starting 27th of October.

Dr Rajiv Kumar Bhalla, a Civil Surgeon in Amritsar said that four Punjab based doctors will receive training organized by the Union Health Ministry to efficiently manage and deal with any Ebola patients in the region. The training commenced in Delhi on the 27th of October, Monday, and will continue till Friday.

He said, "Amritsar is more vulnerable due to the presence of international airport and international border with Pakistan."

Official health authorities have established emergency response teams fully equipped with Ebola patient management skills and protective gears. There is high alert and vigilance at the international airports and borders with countries vulnerable to Ebola virus.
