Fatal Diseases - Dahar urges officials to launch vaccination drive

KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that data of all `vertical’ programmes, including hepatitis, must be computerized.

He also exhorted the officials to launch a campaign for creating awareness about vaccination against fatal diseases among students of both the public and private sector schools at district level across Sindh.

He gave these directives while presiding over a meeting of health officials here in his office. Provincial Secretary Health Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo and Project Director (Hepatitis) Dr Abdul Khaliq Shaikh were also present in the meeting.

On this occasion, the minister also instructed the officials of health department to visit all districts of the province to monitor the vaccination campaign.

Jam Mehtab said that a complete list of staff of hepatitis, EPI and other programmes should to be maintained properly, attendance be ensured, besides their educational and professional degrees should be verified from their educational institutions concerned.

The minister was of the view that preventive measures against fatal diseases must be adopted so as to effectively control such diseases.
