Foreign grads clear PMDC exam


Islamabad: Nearly all of the foreign qualified doctors, who took the accreditation and registration exam, conducted by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), has successfully cleared the test. The results for the National Examination Board (NEB) step III exam OSCE/Viva, were recently announced by the Khyber Medical University. These results have been posted on the website of Khyber Medical University.

It was reported, that the Registrar of PMDC – Dr Raja Amjad Mehmood, stated that; 236 Pakistani nationals with foreign basic medical qualification sat the examination in Islamabad on June 7 and 8, and 232 of them turned out to be successful. Dr. Mehmood further stated that; “Ninety-eight per cent candidates passed the examination conducted by noted professors of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the supervision of the Khyber Medical University, Peshawar,”.

According to Dr. Amjad; The record number of passing credit went to the refresher/preparatory courses, held by PMDC in Islamabad and Lahore to facilitate the candidates and the implementation of the structured pattern of the examination by the Council. “We’re so encouraged by the higher percentage of those passing the examination that we’ve decided to hold the refresher courses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and Karachi simultaneously,” he said.

The Registrar also stated that; the candidates, who had passed the NEB examination Step III, could practice medicine and surgery, after the issuance of the PMDC registration certificates and their formal notification by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination.
