Gas Supply Disconnected - Over 50 operations put off at ASH

KARACHI- Over 50 scheduled surgical operations were postponed at KMC’s Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) last Saturday following its gas supply was disconnected over non-payment of bills. 

The postponement of surgical operations added miseries to patients at the KMC-run health care facility working of which has been continuously deteriorating owing to maladministration.

Sources claimed that gas supply of the hospital was disconnected as the KMC finance department could not clear the last three months dues of gas utility in the wake of its financial constraints. 
They said operations in emergency operation theaters (OTs) remained suspended for two days due to delayed restoration of gas supply to the hospital.

Senior director of KMC health and medical services department Dr Salma Kausar Ali could not be reached for her comments.
