Grand Health Alliance gives three-day ultimatum to Sindh Government

KARACHI: The Grand Health Alliance (GHA) has given a three-day ultimatum to the Sindh government to accept the genuine demands of healthcare workers; otherwise, a token strike will be observed from Karachi to Kashmore.

Doctors, nurses, and paramedics have formed a new alliance comprising of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh, Young Nurses Association (YNA) Sindh, Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association, Peoples Paramedical Staff Association, and others to fight for their genuine demands.

The press conference was jointly addressed by Dr Mehboob Noonari, Dr Waris Jakhrani, Dr Muhammad Khan Shar, Dr Abdul Razzak Rajper, Atta Hussain Rajper, Syed Shahid Iqbal, Hira Lal Hatesh, Akhlaq Ahmed, Yousuf Khan, Sharif Palari, Ameer Deenari, and Ghazi Abro.

The speakers noted that if the Sindh Government fails to respond, the next and only option is to call a strike all over the Sindh province. They demanded risk allowance for all healthcare providers and not only for those working in the coronavirus isolation wards.

They demanded a security insurance bill, a Shuhada package for health workers, isolation wards for health professionals, health professional allowance, the establishment of an information desk in all hospitals, regularization of vaccinators, and others.

The speakers gave a 3-day ultimatum to the Sindh Government to accept their genuine demands; otherwise, a token strike will be observed from 8 June 2020. If the government fails to respond, a complete strike will be observed from 11 June 2020.

They said that the Sindh Government would be held responsible if their genuine demands are not accepted within the given time.
