KARACHI: The Grand Health Alliance (GHA) recently observed a two-hour token strike from Karachi to Kashmore for high-risk allowance for health care workers and other demands after the end of a three-day ultimatum.

The doctors, paramedical staff, and nurses of Sindh, under the banner of the Grand Health Alliance, observed a token strike and boycotted OPDs across the province in favor of their demands.

The protest demonstration was held at the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, National Institute of Child Health, Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad, Sindh Government Hospital, Qatar Hospital, and others.

Similarly, the doctors, nurses, and paramedics of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Kashmore, Dadu, Badin, and other areas also observed the two-hour token strike.

Chairman, Grand Health Alliance (GHA), Dr Mehbob Noonari, said that if the Sindh government fails to respond to doctors, nurses, and paramedics despite three-days ultimatum, healthcare workers will observe a token strike across the Sindh province.

He said healthcare professionals have been demanding a security insurance bill, Shuhada (martyrs) package for health workers, isolation wards for health professionals, health professional allowance, the establishment of an information desk in all hospitals, regularization of Gavi vaccinators, and others.

The protest of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff has badly distributed the OPDS of the hospitals throughout the province.
