Gulshan to have hospital by mid-’16: Dahar

KARACHI - A 400-bed hospital being constructed in Gulshan-e-Iqbal at an estimated cost of Rs1736 million will become operational by mid-2016.

This was stated by Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar while reviewing the pace of work of the hospital at a meeting held in his office. Provincial secretary health Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, EDO (Health), Karachi, Dr Zafar Aijaz; XEN (Works and Services department) Mukhtar Soomro, deputy director Dr Shaista and other officers were present on the occasion.

Voicing concern over slow pace of construction work, he said that the hospital’s contractor had been warned and asked to expedite the work.

The minister directed the officials concerned to make the hospital functional by opening its outdoor patient department in the first phase so that people of the area could be provided health facilities as soon as possible. Wards and other requirements of the hospital could be provided there gradually in the next phase, he added.

He said that the Gulshan’s hospital will have general OPD, consulting clinics, lab and diagnostic facilities, blood bank, a dialysis unit, neonatal unit, and an emergency centre.

Moreover, the hospital will be providing specialized facilities such as CT scan, MRI and endoscopy, he added.
