MN Report

KARACHI - Reham Khan, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, during her recent visit to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) was told by the hospital management that all heatwave patients had been discharged following their treatment.

Ms Khan during her visit to the hospital was accompanied by Sindh Assembly Member Khurram Sher Zaman, local leaders Faisal Vawda and several PTI activists.

She was further informed that the JPMC reported 380 deaths of heatstroke victims and treated more than 10,000 patients.

Ms Reham visited surgical wards of the hospital and enquired about health of the patients admitted there.

She appreciated efforts of the hospital’s staff in providing treatment to such a huge number of heatstroke patients.

Later, talking to media persons, Ms Reham deplored that although hundreds of people had lost their lives because of searing heat, coupled with prolonged power cuts and unannounced loadshedding, nobody was willing to accept responsibility.

She said the authorities will only feel sufferings of the masses if they come out of their air-conditioned rooms.

She demanded that responsibility be fixed for widespread heatwave deaths on the authorities which demonstrated criminal negligence.

Ms Reham urged the federal and Sindh governments to take responsibility of the tragedy, instead of shifting responsibility on each other.
