Hyderabad to have cardiac hospital soon: minister

Karachi: Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said here that a cardiac hospital like Karachi Cardiac Hospital was being set up in Hyderabad.  

Presiding over a meeting in his office, he said that powers had been transferred at the gross roots-level to increase performance of health department, besides a mechanism has been evolved to ensure transparency in purchasing medicines for government hospitals.

The meeting which was also attended by Sindh Secretary Health Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, was told that 42 ambulances (4×4) had been provided to the hospitals of district Tharparkar for transporting serious patients to the hospitals of other cities.

He was also informed that initially 265 midwives have been trained for ensuring safe deliveries in the far-flung areas of Thar, while 600 more midwives will be trained shortly.

According to the minister, out of 400 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in Tharparkar, 325 were working properly.

It may be pointed out that around 208 new-born babies had died in Tharparkar during last seven months.
