ICU set up at JPMC’s chest medicines dept

KARACHI- The newly-built Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s (JPMC) department of chest medicines under public-private partnership will be inaugurated in June.

Head of the JPMC’s chest medicines department, Dr Nadeem Ahmed Rizvi, said that the ICU, built at a cost of Rs25 million, will have 16 beds and it is equipped with ventilators and other modern gadgets. He said with the addition of 16 beds, the total strength of beds at the chest medicines department has been increased to 110 beds.

“With the opening of the ICU, the department will be able to provide much better health facilities to patients,” Dr Rizvi said, adding that the ICU has been established to deal with patients having respiratory problems whether caused by smoking or due to some other reasons.
