Imran Nazeer Terms Quackery `An Evil ’

LAHORE – Terming quackery `an evil’ in the society, Parliamentary Secretary for Health Khawaja Imran Nazeer has said that measures were being to get rid of this menace.

Responding to a supplementary question asked by MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal during question-answer session in Punjab Assembly on Monday last, he said that steps were being taken to ensure that only those doctors,who are registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Homoeopathic Council and Tibb Council, could practice.

To another query from MPA Farzana Nazeer, the parliamentary secretary said that an action was being taken against those who were not registered with the relevant bodies.

He told the house that Institute of Neuroscience in General Hospital would be completed by next year.

Answering questions about Basic Health Units (BHUs), he said that measures were being taken to improve their working, besides all-out efforts were being made to ensure availability of 18 essential medicines at all the BHUs.

The Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan on a question posed by MPA Muhammad Arshad Malik, directed to send the matter to health committee of the house for investigating into the matter.
