In last 10-month - HIV/AIDS claim 26 lives in Sindh

Karachi: As many as 26 people, including 23 male, two female and a child, had died of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)/AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) across Sindh from Jan 1, 2015 to date, provincial AIDS Control Programme’s manager Dr Mohammad Younis Chachar told media persons.

According to Dr Chachar, 26 HIV/AIDS-affected patients had died in Sindh during the current year, so far, whereas the programme’s management had registered 1,157 more HIV patients in the province until now.
He said that since 1995, the management of the Aids Control Programme had registered 9,107 cases of HIV and 235 that of AIDS.

He said seven diagnostic centres are functioning in different parts of the Sindh for detection and treatment of such patients.
