Karachi to Be Engulfed in Sweltering Heatwave this October

Yet another heat wave has hit Karachi, confirms the Met department. The Met Office foretold that Karachi would see heat waves in the coming few days, with maximum temperatures even exceeding 40°C.

The authorities warned about the mugginess intensity to reach up to 85%.

It is also foreseen that this heat wave might last a week, from 6th to 13th October of this year. Temperatures, meanwhile, are expected to scale up to 40° C to 45° C.

Sear, parched and grimy atmospheric conditions would substitute dry northern winds.

As per the predictions of WUPK, the chances of being inflicted by a heat stroke would be 65%, as the temperature would outstretch its vertex from 7th to 11th October, 2017.

WUPK efficaciously advocates people to take precautionary measures to avoid any further complications.

Heat Stroke Precautions

If you know someone who is affected by heat stroke, here is what you can do:

• Get to a shady or air-conditioned place.


• Cool off with damp sheets and a fan.


• Take a cool shower or bath.


• Rehydrate but don’t take any sugary beverages.


• Protect yourselves against sunburn.


• Take extra precautions with certain medications.


• Never leave anyone in a parked car.


• Avoid strenuous activities.

Noorpurthal and Nokkundi were recently found to be the hottest areas with 41°C, along with Mithi and Sibbi at 40°C. While hot and dry weather conditions triumph most parts of the country, few places in Malakand Division and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience slight rain with thunderstorms.
