Lady Wellington hospital with out power for the past few days.

Lahore: Lady Wellington hospital is been reported with out power for the past few days, local TV news channel reported on Monday. Up to 16 hours of powers cuts are reported at the Punjab's only hospital with 230 beds on gynaecology.

Many surgeries and procedures were delayed putting numerous expecting mothers on risk due un scheduled power cuts despite the fact that government hospitals enjoy immunity from load shedding.

The hospital is Equipped with a leased generator but it is not working.

On contacting the Federal Minister for Power and Water Khwaja Saad Rafiq said that a leased generator will be place in the hospital with in the next two days and will arrange for another generator while severe load shedding continues to hamper the hospital's life saving activities.

The Minister further said that the dry weather spell is disabling them to manage the load shedding and requests everyone to pray to Allah as there is nothing they can do.

Just across the road is a metro bus terminal which is being serviced with electricity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, uninterrupted. Without doubt, the provincial government does not sees the Lady Wellington hospital as a priority when it comes to Metro Bus project in Lahore.

On contacting the provincial secretary health Ejaz Mir, he said that the hospital is suffering up to 2 to 3 hours of load shedding after an hour of supply. He added that they're unable to get any support from the ministry of power and water.

When media approached the MS of the hospital Dr. Zafar, he tried to hide the issue and avoided any questions.
