LAHORE, July: Patients at Lady Willingdon Hospital Lahore have to suffer sever distress due to unbearable loadsheding as the hospital generator was out of order for many  days. The patients of all departments, particularly in ICU, had to suffer the worst condition, due to the persistent loadshedding.

When contacted the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Lady Willingdon Hospital - Dr. Zafar Yousaf said that; The hospital has ensured that no casualty occurrs due to load shedding. The hospital has made a backup arrangement of a rented power generator to run its operations during hours of load shedding.

Talking to Medical News, the MS said that electricity short fall is a major problem for the whole country, not only for this hospital. Responding to a question about the grievance of

patients due to load shedding, he said that due to construction of a fly over at Azadi Chowk, the power supply at Lady Willingdon Hospital often remains suspended for many hours and our generator broke down due to continuous excessive usage. Now we have temporarily arranged a rented  backup generator to meet the electricity needs consistently, during load shedding hours.

However, he said that some shortage of doctors persisted in this 235-bed hospital, due to which, the management is facing hardships in treating the rising number of patients in the hospital. He said that around seventy doctors besides 70 postgraduate trainees and 24 house officers were working in the hospital.
