Lecture by a global expert on maternal health.

Karachi: Pakistan Medical Association  (PMA) and Society of Obstetricians  and Gynecologists of Pakistan (SOGP) is organising a guest lecture by the Medical Director and President of Innovations at Johns Hopkins University, USA. - Dr. Harshad Sanghvi.

The lecture will be held in Karachi on Saturday 30th November 2013 at the PMA House, Sir Aga Khan III  Road. The theme of this insightful lecture is; “Taking Effective Health Care To Mothers and Newborns - Making Task shifting Effective & Safe”.

Dr. Harshad Sanghvi has a professional background in obstetrics, gynecology and clinical epidemiology. He has extensive work experience in more than 25 low-resource countries. He has led the initiative for developing a global pool of maternal experts and programmes for reducing maternal mortality.  He has received numerous awards in recognition for his work. He also won the 2009 award for “Best Practices” from the Global Health Council. He has also worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) besides leading projects supported by USAID and other international donors.

Other learned speakers on the occasion will include; a leading gynecologist of Pakistan - Dr. Syed Tipu Sultan who is also a Senior Executive member of PMA. The program will also feature; Dr. Nighat Shah – Consultant Gynecologist at Aga Khan University Hospital and Dr. Halima Yasmin – Secretary General SOGP .
