KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has exhorted the employees of public sector hospitals to discharge their duties honestly and diligently, or else strict disciplinary action would be taken against those found guilty of serious dereliction of duty.

He also urged them to attend to their duties regularly so that patients visiting the health facilities might not suffer.

The minister gave these directives during his surprise visits to Government Children Hospital, Nagan Chowrani; Baldia Town’s Rural Health Centre and the health department’s Central Depot.

He directed the Children Hospital’s medical superintendent to ensure cleanliness in and around the hospital’s building and make it mandatory for the hospital’s employees to wear uniforms while performing duties.
During his visit to Baldia Town’s 50-bed Rural Health Centre, he expressed his annoyance over the slow pace of development works.

He also deplored that though the hospital was inaugurated in 2006, it has not yet been completed.

Taking strong notice of inferior quality material used in the construction of health facility’s building, he warned the officials of health and works & services departments that he will take up the matter with the higher-up of Sindh government.

At the Central Depot, the minister said that stern action would be taken against corrupt officials, while honest and competent officials would be rewarded.
