Next phase of drive against polio to begin on 13th

KARACHI- Sindh health department during its ongoing campaign against polio will administer IPV to 114,688 children in 177 union councils (UCs) of 13 districts of the province.

This was stated by Special Secretary (Public Health) Dr Khalid Hussain Shaikh.

The drive against polio is being conducted from May 13 to May 20, he said, adding that during this initiative 48 UCs of Hyderabad, 12 of Dadu, nine of Shaheed Benazirabad, six of Sanghar, 10 of Naushero Feroze, eight of Sukkur, six of Ghotki, 11 of Khairpur, 15 of Jacobabad, 12 of Kambar, 15 of Kashmore, 10 of Larkana and 15 of Shikarpur would be covered.

He said during the drive 332,429 children up to 5 years of age would be given Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV). The outreach and fixed centres in the above mentioned UCs would operate from 8am to 4pm daily and the social mobilizers would motivate parents to bring their children at these centres, he added.
