NICVD to expand its cardiac satellite network to other provinces

KARACHI- Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Murtaza Wahab recently announced that, National Institute Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) is collectively working on spreading their network across Pakistan, by establishing a Cardiac Satellite Center in another province.

He announced this news during his visit to the Chest Pain Unit of Lyari established by NICVD at Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital (LGH).

Executive Director, NICVD, Prof. Dr Nadeem Qamar, Medical Superintendent, LGH Dr Khadim Qureshi and local representatives of PPP were also present on this occasion.

Barrister Wahab also mentioned that the Chest Pain Unit (CPU) in Lyari, will soon be upgraded to a Satellite Center, where cardiac surgeries will be performed to save lives on a daily basis.

To date, more than 40,000 cardiac patients have been examined at Lyari’s Chest Pain Unit, where services like angiography, angioplasty and other kinds of cardiac surgeries will be introduced after the up-gradation of the CPU into a Satellite Centre.

Currently, the Lyari Chest Pain Unit of NICVD is providing OPD and emergency facilities to the residents of Lyari town, round the clock, where 4 ventilators are functioning to facilitate critical patients.

Furthermore, he added that, 8 Satellite Centers and 6 Chest Pain Units are operating in Interior Sindh and Karachi, respectively.
