The Nurses of Sindh, under the banner of the Sindh Nurses Alliance, continued their protest and boycotted their duties throughout the Sindh province on the sixth consecutive day on May 4th, 2019.

The nurses continued the boycott of the emergency departments, intensive care units (ICU), pediatric intensive care units (PICU), cardiac intensive care units (CICU), labour rooms, operation theaters, and the wards in all government hospitals of the province to raise their demand for the approval of the health professional allowance and promotion of nurses under the four-tier formula.

The patient care in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, Karachi, National Institute of Child Health, Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Sindh Government Qatar Hospital, and other hospitals have been gravely affected due to this ongoing protest of nurses.

The nurses of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Mithi, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Badin, Kashmor, Dadu, and other cities and towns also boycotted their duties in protest.

The nurses of Karachi continued their protest demonstration and sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club.

The central leader of the Sindh Nurses Alliance, Ejaz Ali Kaleri, held the Sindh government responsible for the prevailing situation and vowed to continue the boycott until their demands are accepted.

He demanded for the promotion of nurses under the four-tier formula, the provision of health professional allowance, time–scale promotions, DDO powers for the heads of nursing institutes and resolving nursing students’ issues on an urgent basis.
