Patients continue to suffer as health professionals continue protesting

KARACHI: Scores of patients seeking consultation returned home as doctors, paramedics, and nurses continued the boycott of OPDs and general wards on its fifth day from Karachi to Kashmore.

The health professionals of Sindh, under the banner of Grand Health Alliance (GHA), boycotted OPDs, and general wards, cross the Sindh province demanding risk allowance, provision of PPE, and others.

The healthcare workers organized a protest at the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, National Institute of Child Health, Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital, Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad, Sindh Government Hospital Qatar Hospital, and others district hospitals of the city.

The doctors, nurses, and paramedics of Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Kashmore, Dadu, and Badin also continued the protest on its fifth day in favour of their demands.

The central leader of the Young Nurses Association, Aijaz Ahmed Kaleri, said that doctors, nurses, and paramedics of Sindh have been protesting for five days in Sindh, but the concerned authorities failed to respond to the genuine issues of healthcare workers.

He informed that the GHA would announce the future of line of action on 15 June 2020 if the Sindh government does not fulfil the genuine demands of health professionals.
