Pink Ribbon Day: SMIU Organizes Awareness Session on Breast Cancer

KARACHI- In the light of Pink Ribbon Day, Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) organized an awareness session for their female employees and students, regarding Breast Cancer.


On the occasion, former Cabinet Secretary and Ambassador of Pakistan, Dr Masuma Hassan was invited as the Chief Guest.


Whilst addressing the audience, Dr Masuma stated that across Asia, Pakistan has the highest Breast Cancer ratio, owing to the lack of awareness regarding this disease.


To fight this growing menace, she added that our society should start addressing this grave matter openly. She urged the Government to work on implementing plans to raise awareness amongst women belonging to all kinds of social statuses. She stressed upon introducing new techniques and diagnostic equipment to detect breast cancer at early stages.


Furthermore, Dr Masuma added that literate mothers should educate their daughters and other females around them about Breast cancer and its complications. Every woman should be aware of the signs and symptoms of this disease.


Earlier, Campus Medical Officer, Dr Maria gave a detailed presentation based on the causes and presentation of Breast Cancer.
