PMA applauds anti quackery campaign by Health Department

The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has expressed its appreciation and highly commends the Health Department – Government of Sindh for launching a campaign against quacks who are playing havoc with the common people of Pakistan. The unqualified practitioners are fooling the poor masses by posing as doctors. This is causing countless deaths due to mishandling and misguiding, while giving false hopes to the unsuspecting victims. During the first phase of the initiative against quackery, the Keamari area is being raided as there is a large number of quacks threatening the lives of innocent patients.

PMA has announced full support for the actions taken by Dr. Muzzafar Jhakhrani – Incharge of Anti Quackery Cell, Health Department, Government of Sindh. The Association stated that the PMDC rules and regulations against quacks and quackery are are clear and well defined.

PMA Karachi has already informed the Chief Minister of Sindh and the Health Department, Government of Sindh, about the growing menace of quacks taking toll on the patients’ health and wealth. PMA has also submitted a list of quacks to the PMDC and other legal authorities. The media has been requested to create awareness, and numerous publications have agreed to publish the dangers of quackery. This will surely create awareness, showing evidence that exposes the ugly malpractices of the quacks. PMA has urged the health department to ensure protection of the monitoring teams, and an enquiry should be conducted against the threats received by Dr. Muzzafar Jhakhrani.
