PMA condemns Indian Govt for not allowing doctors to see patients

KARACHI: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) strongly condemned the Indian Government for their inhuman act of prohibiting doctors from providing treatment to Kashmiri patients.

Secretary-General, Pakistan Medical Association (Centre), Dr S MQaisar Sajjad, said that this is a shameful act of brutality against the ailing people of Kashmir. Doctors have been arrested in Kashmir under the offense of providing treatment to Kashmiri patients.

The PMA, the doctor fraternity, and paramedics denounce this viciousness.

He said that the people of Kashmir have been imprisoned in their homes for the last 24 days due to the imposition of a curfew in the valley. People are suffering from scarcity of edibles, medicine, and the unavailability of lifesaving drugs in particular

“In this situation, patients are unable to visit doctors. Patients suffering from diseases like hypertension, diabetes, gastroenteritis, cardiovascular disease, renal diseases, and female patients are unable to go to hospitals for treatment and maternity facilities. Patients who need emergency care are mercilessly lying at home because of no access to any emergency care,” he added.

He demanded to lift the curfew immediately so that all patients, severe patients, in particular, can receive emergency treatment. Additionally, Dr Sajjad demanded the restoration of all the communication facilities for Kashmiris.

Dr Qaisar Sajjad further called for the Indian Government to allow Pakistani and international doctors to go to Kashmir for the treatment of critical patients.
