KARACHI: According to recent notifications, The National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) recently started an investigation against the Procurement In-charge, Khurram Hussain, and the Security In-charge, Abdul Latif Dar, over the misuse of government funds.

As per the documents available, the above-named government employees of the NICVD fraudulently withdrew a huge amount from the NICVD Karachi in the name of Kun Enterprises and Zameer Enterprises agencies to employ security guards for the hospital.

However, no security guards have been deputed. Additionally, both security companies’ names have been misused. The amount withdrawn from government funds has also caused a massive loss to the government.

The above-mentioned government officers have also been illegally running the valet service of the NICVD by charging Rs50 per vehicle. More than 200 vehicles have been parked in the premises of the NICVD every day, and the entire recovered amount from the said vehicles in the name of the valet service goes to their pockets, thereby making the government suffer loss.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh has also sought the details about the Procurement In-Charge, Khurram Hussain, and others on the complaint of Nazir Ahmed regarding the misappropriation of government funds.

In this connection, a record has been sought from the NICVD’s management about the tendering process file with respect to the contract of parking.

Chief Operating Officer, NICVD, Azra Maqsood, confirmed that the Anti-Corruption Establishment had sought the details of some companies working in the NICVD and the report would be submitted soon.
