MN Report

Karachi:Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association’s (SPSWA) central president Akhlaq Ahmed Khan has expressed his shock and grief over the death of an infant, apparently caused by tight security cordon for Pakistan People's Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari when he inaugurated trauma centre at the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK).

In a statement, the SPSWA chief said that it was an irony that a 10-month-old Bismah lost her life at the doorstep of a health facility merely because of tight security arrangements made in connection with the PPP chairman and Sindh chief minister’s visit to CHK for the inaugural ceremony of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre.  Heavy presence of security and police officials in and around the CHK not only caused heavy traffic jams on all roads leading to the  CHK but the father of the deceased Bismah was also not allowed to enter the hospital’s emergency department, he deplored.

He expressed his solidarity with the father of Bismah and other members of the bereaved family.

Meanwhile, Chairman Sindh Doctors Forum Dr Nawaz Ali Mallah, has also expressed his grief and sorrow over the death of the infant and demanded of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the tragic incident.
