Swine flu claims two lives in Karachi

Karachi: Swine flu claimed two lives of all the 23 cases reported in January in the city, according to the health authorities.

Confirming the deaths of the two people, including an infant girl, due to swine flu, Dr Zafar Ezaj, director health, Karachi, said both the victims died of pneumonia made severe by swine flue owing to their weak immune system.

Amin Bawani, 83, died on Jan 16 while the death of one-year-old Salma, a resident of Saa’di Town, was reported on Jan 16 because of swine flu.

Health experts said that swine flu virus mostly attack weak and less immune people. H1N1 virus of swine flu contained a combination of genes from swine, avian (bird), and human influenza viruses. Mild symptoms of the disease might include fever, sore throat, cough, headache, muscle or joint pains, and nausea and vomiting, or diarrhoea

.The outbreak of swine flu reported in different cities of Punjab has claimed lives of several people in Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi and some other cities of the province.
