Swine Flu Threat in Sindh - Alert issued

The Health Department Sindh has issued special instructions to public hospitals on how to deal with the suspected Swine influenza virus (H1N1) epidemic and also issued swine flu alert across the Sindh province, it was learned.

Special Secretary Public Health Sindh - Dr Khalid Sheikh said; An alert has been issued to all districts and teaching hospitals across the Sindh province over a possible outbreak of swine flu and making functional isolation wards to deal with any untoward situation.

He said; Necessary directives have been issued to all personnel dealing with suspected cases. They should  adopt preventive measure even in dealing with people suffering from common flu. The suspected patients of H1N1 influenza should be kept in isolation wards. He said hospital Chiefs must immediately inform the health department, if suspected swine flu cases are reported in their respective institutions.

According to media reports, more than 1200 people have died from swine flu in India and the diseases has infected more than 23,000 people across India in last few weeks.
