The race is on for Dow VC

KARACHI - After retirement of Professor Masood Hameed in the middle of September the race is on to select the new Vice Chancellor with interviews scheduled to be held tomorrow.

The front runners in the race include Prof Saeed Qureshi, Prof Noshad A Shaikh, Prof Masroor Ahmed and Prof Rana Qamar Masood Hameed wife of outgoing VC.

The other contenders include Prof Umer Farooq; Prof Junaid Ashraf; Prof Zaman Shaikh; Prof Ghulam Asghar Channa; Prof Siraj Memon and Prof Qamaruddin Baloch.

If Prof Rana Masood makes it to the coveted post it may be the first instance where a husband is succeeded by a wife as VC. Whoever succeeds the achievements of the outgoing VC will be difficult to emulate.
