Three more human corneas handed over to Mayor Karachi

KARACHI: A delegation of the Lions Club of Pakistan, led by Abu Bakar Kareem recently met Mayor Karachi, Wasim Akhter. The ceremony was held at the Mayor Karachi Secretariat. Arshad Hussain, Deputy Mayor Karachi,  Arshad Islam, Lion Club chairman, Dr Salma Kauser, Senior Director, Medical & Health Service Department, Karachi Municipal Committee (KMC), Dr Naheed Fatima and Dr Birbal Genani, Medical Superintendent (MS), Spencer Eye Hospital Karachi and several others were present on occasion.

In the event, the delegation of the Lions Club of Pakistan, led by Abu Bakar Kareem, handed three human corneas to Mayor Karachi, Wasim Akhter.

Speaking to the occasion, Dr Birbal Genani, noted that three corneal transplant surgeries were expected to be performed at the hospital in the upcoming days.

He informed that 14 corneal transplant surgeries had been performed using the donations from the Lions Club of Pakistan at the Spencer Eye Hospital so far.
