UHS student brings home laurels

LAHORE- Waqas Ahmad - a promising medical student of University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore, has won the “Best Abstract Award” bestowed by Healthy Aging Network of North Netherlands (HANNN) at International Student Congress of (Bio) Medical Sciences (ISCOMS) 2015 held at Groningen.

It was held under the auspices of University Medical Centre Groningen, Netherlands. He is the son of Attaullah Cheema, a senior journalist and educationist of Gujrat district.

As many as 364 participants from 52 countries presented their respective research papers at ISCOMS. The host university faculty scrutinized the research papers and declared Waqas’ research paper titled “Diet, Exercise & Mental Wellbeing of Healthcare Professionals of Pakistan” the best research work contributing towards the healthy ageing of people. They nominated him for the HANNN Best Abstract Award 2015.

In the concluding session of the congress, DaanBultje, Director (HANNN) presented the Best Abstract Award 2015 to Waqas, which is worth 500 Euros, amid vibrant applause. Hundreds of international medical students, research scholar and professors were also present there.

He has also won the Best Oral Presenter Award in his presentation session. Dr Edward Krupat of Harvard Medical School USA, Dr Frances Taggart of Warwick University UK, Brig DrShehzada Muhammad Hassan Jaffrey -Commandant HULS, Lahore Cantt, Col DrAnjum Anwar Qadri-AMC, Rao Altaf Hussain -AIG (Traffic), DrNaisar Ahmed Malik, DrJavidRiaz, Dr M Akram- MS Trauma Centre,DrNaeem Akhtar Janjua, Dr Tahir Latif, DrShahbazJanjua andDr M Ashraf of PMA Gujrat District congratulated Waqas.
