Vitreo Retinal surgery begins at DUHS

Karachi: Ophthalmology department of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has started Vitreo Retinal surgery at the university’s Ojha campus. 

Director Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital and a former head of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre’s (JPMC) Eye department, Prof Saleh Memon, performed the inaugural surgery at a ceremony attended by senior ophthalmologists, including Prof Rasheed Khokhar, Prof Mazhar-ul-Hassan, Prof Shahid Wahab, Prof Masroor, Prof Rana Qamar, Dr Sarfaraz and senior faculty members of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Saleh Memon said that since Vitreo Retinal surgery is an advanced surgery, both the DUHS and Al Ibrahim Eye Hospital with a view to enhancing performance and ability of doctors have decided to start rotating doctors from next week.

He lauded the efforts of vice chancellor of DUHS, Prof Masood Hameed Khan, in starting Vitreo Retinal surgery at the university’s Ojha campus.

Prof Masood Hameed Khan, Prof Rasheed Khokhar and Prof Mazhar-ul-Hassan also spoke on the occasion.
