World Environment Day - NFEH chalks out elaborate programme

KARACHI- The National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH) in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme will organize different activities and events from June 1 to 7 on the occasion of `World Environment Day’.

According to NFEH president, Muhammad Naeem Qureshi, the forum had constituted a network of over 20 commercial, social, governmental, non-governmental, and municipal organizations for holding different  events in connection with the `World Environment Day’ which is observed globally on June 5 each year.

The events being planned for the occasion are aimed at spreading awareness about environmental issues among general public, government authorities, politicians, youth, and children.

The NFEH’s plans to organise an Environment Festival at PAF Museum, Karachi, on June 1; a seminar on June 4; a  campaign in collaboration with District Municipal Corporation South and K-Electric for promoting the cause of plantation, cleanliness as well as for removal of wall-graffiti from the city’s downtown areas on June 5; drawing, poster and singing competitions for children at a shopping mall of Clifton area on June 6 and lectures on environmental issues at Patel Hospital and Dream World Resorts on June 7.

He said that a committee has been formed to organize these events and its members include Ruqiya Naeem, Nadeem Ashraf, Khalid Iqbal, Maryium Fatimah, Mustafa Tahir, Zahid Ali, Shazil Kazmi, Mohsin Muntazir, Rashid Ansari, Ghulam Kibria, and representatives of different bodies
